<h3><strong>#72 Compensate Fairly</strong></h3>
<p>Compensation alone will not sustainably connect with and engage people so that they give their best efforts. However, the perception that they are not fairly compensated will undermine connection and engagement.</p>
<p>When someone perceives he/she is not fairly compensated, he/she will feel taken advantage of and devalued.  Establishing a well-thought-out compensation process and taking time to communicate it is wise.<span id="more-7043"></span></p>
<p>It is also wise to seek and consider the opinions of individuals you are responsible for leading if they disagree with the compensation decision. Hearing them out shows you value them and you are giving them a voice. Considering their opinions may also better equip you to make optimal compensation decisions and advocate on their behalf when the next round of compensation decisions arise.</p>
