After a game the Packers won but didn&#039;t exert the all-out effort Lombardi wanted, he would berate the players. After a game they lost but had exerted everything they had and then some, he would console them. It was all about the effort.

One more recollection from those days (I was a teenager who grew up just outside Green Bay). Lombardi coined the term &quot;second effort,&quot; referring to the resilience and perseverance he wanted and expected from running backs and receivers after they had been tackled.</description>
